What KHC does not provide
KHC does not:
- diagnose disease or determine the medical cause of symptoms;
- practice medicine;
- prescribe, start, stop or change prescription medication;
- order medical tests;
- independently establish a diagnosis from laboratory, imaging or other test results;
- provide emergency or urgent medical care;
- provide psychotherapy or replace appropriate mental-health care;
- provide physiotherapy, rehabilitation or other regulated healthcare services unless separately qualified and legally authorized to do so;
- provide medical nutrition therapy where that requires a regulated professional; or
- replace a physician or other appropriately qualified healthcare professional.
Root-Cause Health Coaching
At KHC, “Root-Cause Health Coaching” means structured, non-diagnostic exploration of persistent or multifactorial concerns.
The process may help a client organize patterns and consider potentially modifiable factors involving lifestyle, nutrition, sleep, stress, behavior and environment.
It does not mean that KHC claims to identify the medical cause of a disease, condition or symptom.
It does not assume that every symptom has one hidden lifestyle cause.
It does not justify unsupported causal claims or treatment protocols.
Where medical evaluation is appropriate, KHC encourages the client to work with an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.
Laboratory reports and health information
Clients may voluntarily supply laboratory reports or other healthcare information for context.
KHC may help organize that information, identify coaching-relevant questions, discuss lifestyle or behavioral considerations within coaching competence, and help a client prepare questions for a healthcare professional.
KHC does not independently use such information to diagnose disease or replace medical interpretation.
Supplements
KHC may provide general evidence-informed education within coaching competence.
Individual supplement decisions can depend on medical history, medications, laboratory results and other individual factors.
Where appropriate, KHC will recommend that individualized supplement decisions be reviewed with a qualified healthcare professional.
KHC does not build its value proposition around supplement stacks.
Nutrition coaching
KHC Nutrition Coaching focuses on practical, evidence-informed eating behaviors, routines and decisions.
It is not represented as medical nutrition therapy where medical nutrition therapy requires a licensed or otherwise regulated professional.
Evidence and uncertainty
KHC aims to distinguish:
- stronger evidence from preliminary evidence;
- association from causation;
- statistical significance from meaningful practical or clinical importance;
- established facts from hypotheses; and
- what is known from what remains uncertain.
An association does not establish causation.
A change observed during a period of coaching does not by itself establish that coaching or a particular behavior caused the change.
Client responsibility and healthcare
Clients remain responsible for their healthcare decisions.
KHC encourages clients to maintain appropriate relationships with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
Clients should not delay, disregard or stop medically indicated care because of website content or health coaching.
Medication and medical-treatment decisions should be made with appropriately qualified prescribing or treating professionals.
Urgent issues
KHC is not an emergency service.
New, severe, worsening or urgent health concerns should be addressed through appropriate healthcare or emergency services rather than waiting for a KHC response.
Results
KHC works primarily on modifiable behaviors, health strategy, implementation, measurement and self-management.
No particular health, symptom, weight, body-composition, laboratory, disease-prevention or longevity outcome is guaranteed.
